Family Max is a big hit with clergy families

Nine clergy families enjoyed an action-packed day out at the Mendip Activity Centre on Saturday 7 June. The annual Family Max event for families where mum or dad, or both, are clergy saw children and parents tobogganing down the dry slope together, hitting the mark with target archery and trying their hand at axe throwing in some amazing woodland surroundings.

Organised by the Go Team and supported financially by the Clergy Support Trust, Family Max is now in its fourth year and looks set to continue if the feedback from the families who attended this year's event is anything to go by. Guy Martin-Scott, Rector in the Benefice of Clutton with Cameley and Temple-Cloud, Farmborough, Marksbury and Stanton Prior commented,"Our family had a great time at Family Max this year – not even the rain could dampen our fun! It was great to meet with other clergy families and participate in the wide range of activities on offer. My youngest son, Ezra (7), particularly loved the frisbee golf!"

Revd's Philip and Michelle Butcher, from Minehead Parish, who came with their two younger children said of the day, "The Family Max day for clergy families is such a wonderful treat in the calendar.  Being a clergy family with young children, it was a real blessing to have a relaxed and fun day with similar families.  We made new friends, tried new things, and simply enjoyed having the space to be together.  Thank you to the Go Team for such a great day."

The Go Team’s Andy Levett added, “Family Max just gets better it seems! It’s great to be able to offer things that families might not usually get to do together as well as a space for parents and children to get to know other ministry families.“
