The Diocese of Bath and Wells manages a large and diverse portfolio of clergy housing, and these homes play a vital role in supporting ministry across the diocese. Our Net Zero Carbon Housing programme is focused on improving the energy efficiency, comfort and long-term sustainability of these properties while reducing carbon emissions and energy bills. By making the best possible use of statutory grants and National Church funding, we are carrying out measures such as insulation upgrades, solar panels, battery storage and low-carbon heating systems. This work not only helps us move towards the Church of England’s Net Zero Carbon by 2030 target, but also improves wellbeing for clergy families, reduces exposure to rising energy costs and adds lasting value to our housing assets.
A word from our Property Manager

“Our clergy homes are some of the Diocese’s most important assets, providing the places from which ministry is lived out across our communities. By investing in energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies, we are improving comfort, reducing running costs and ensuring these properties remain fit for purpose for many years to come. It is a practical investment in both our people and our assets, and an important part of our commitment to responsible stewardship.”
