Net zero carbon schools

Our church schools lie at the heart of our communities. They are places of learning, nurture, worship, and they carry a profound responsibility for shaping future generations. How we care for them today will determine not only their financial and environmental sustainability, but the example we set for the children and young people in our care. Our commitment to Net Zero Carbon flows directly from our calling to care for God’s creation and to act faithfully in response to the climate crisis. It is a practical expression of responsible stewardship.

A word from our Assistant Director of Education

"Delivering Net Zero across our schools requires leadership, partnership, and sustained commitment from school leaders, governors, MATs, the Diocesan Board of Education, and diocesan teams. Many of our schools and their respective MATs retain responsibility for their operational decisions, but the Diocese has a clear role in providing direction, coordination, and accountability. Sustainability is fully embedded in our work with church schools. Head over to our schools section of the website to learn more about reducing carbon emissions and ensuring your school continues to shape the lives of our future eco warriors."
