In churches across our diocese, we are living and telling the story of Jesus as we move through Holy Week and prepare to celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday. It’s a story we know well, but one we step into again each year through prayer, reflection, and time spent together.
There have been Holy Week reflections in many places, and churches have been sharing the Easter message with school children, holding services and events with them before the school holidays began. Across our communities, all kinds of gatherings have been taking place with home groups, prayer groups, and activities for families and children. At Christ Church, Weston-super-Mare, there has been an Easter trail with crafts, games and an Easter egg hunt, while in Portishead people have come together to decorate the church, getting everything ready for Easter services and celebrations.
Many churches will mark Good Friday with walks of witness. At St Barnabas, Bath the church community will carry a cross to the top of Roundhill. There will be a Walk of Witness from Butleigh Church to Baltonsborough Church, with readings and reflections along the way, and in Queen Camel, people will walk between churches before spending time together at the cross in North Cadbury.
These are just a few of the many wonderful things taking place across our diocese as we prepare for Easter Sunday, when we will come together to celebrate the joy of Christ’s resurrection. Use A Church Near You to find out what is happening where you are.
